Art and Social Action: everything left to say, everything remained to be done ...
Founded in 2004 by Coeur d'Hérault Malena Merlo, ARATOUSAGES is an association Act 1901 which aims to educate our society about the importance of the role of art in social action and education. Art has a place to win in these areas. This is not to bring culture to people, but to bring out in them the desire of culture through artistic practice.
ARATOUSAGES The action is built around a pedagogy of creation through artistic support: including that of painting. This pedagogy is based on the principle that every human being has creative potential and even unsatisfied, it accompanies it throughout his life. Anyone, regardless of age and condition, is able to deploy on its own resources, abilities, desires and its history. Through this approach
ARATOUSAGES art entant claims that language, given the ubiquity of art became subject to consumption. Art is language support for discovery, fun, self exploration, but also our relation to others.

painting workshops have been created by Malena Merlo since 1994 in various institutions for the elderly, first in Madrid, Spain (see History ) and more recently in the Herault. Most of these workshops included in the institutional design of various structures were open to the outside through exhibitions.
The headquarters of the association since 2006 to install Lodève ARATOUSAGES intends to continue to develop projects in conjunction with the public aged dependent and in isolation.
Aratousages participated and turned to the county "Ageing Well in the Hérault" by hosting the workshop "Gestures and colors" , an awareness workshop "Benefits of expression artistic " Pégairolles to the Escalette in June 2008, renewed in October 2008 to St. Maurice Navacelles .
Also under "Ageing well in the Hérault" , ARATOUSAGES participate in 2008 project " Alzheimer talk to me in art" at the initiative of LINC Country Lunel. This project aims to perform work to raise awareness among people (families and carers) affected by Alzheimer's disease.
